Malick Noël Seck, le militant politique Sénégalais, a été arrêté le 10 Octobre 2011, pour avoir adressé une lettre ouverte au Président du Conseil Constitutionnel concernant l’irrecevabilité de la candidature du Président Abdoulaye Wade aux élections présidentielles de Février 2012. Il a été accusé à tort d'avoir proféré des menaces de mort à l’encontre des membres du Conseil Constitutionnel et pour «outrages à Magistrats». Or les membres du Conseil Constitutionnel ne sont pas au terme du droit Sénégalais des magistrats de l’ordre juridique ou administratif. Par ailleurs, Amnesty International a, dans une déclaration officielle, démenti la nature calomnieuse de cette accusation et réclamé sa libération immédiate. Malick Noël Seck a été condamné à 2 ans de prison ferme le 19 Octobre 2011. Il a été déporté le 11 Novembre 2011 à la prison de Tambacounda sachant qu’au Sénégal, les personnes qui sont condamnées par des juridictions de Dakar doivent être emprisonnées à Dakar. Le comité de soutien s’inquiète aujourd’hui des conditions d’incarcération de Malick Noël Seck.

Le Comité de Soutien et de Réflexion pour la libération de Malick Noël Seck

Malick Noël Seck, a Senegalese political activist, was arrested on October 10th, 2011, for delivering an open letter to the President of the Constitutional Council stating that the third term candidacy of President Abdoulaye Wade is unconstitutional. He was charged with making death threats against the members of the Constitutional Council and "contempt of the court". The letter contains no death threats. Furthermore, the letter cannot be seen as "contempt of the court," as members of the Constitutional Council are not magistrates of the Senegalese legal or administrative system.

Amnesty International has, in an official statement, denied the nature of this slanderous accusation and demanded his immediate release. You can read their statement at: www.amnesty.org

Malick Noël Seck was sentenced to two years in prison on October 19th 2011. He was deported on November 11th, 2011 to Tambacounda prison knowing that in Senegal, people who are sentenced by Dakar courts should be imprisoned in the city of Dakar. The Support Committee is concerned today about Malick Noël Seck’s detention conditions.

Therefore we request that you sign our petition on www.change.org to raise public opinion about the injustice of this sentence which clearly violates the fundamental right to freedom of speech in Senegal, as stated in Article 10 of the constitution.
